- When you take out a BoxClever Young Driver Car Insurance policy with us, AIG will arrange for a free black box to be installed in your vehicle.
- The device combines GPS, an accelerometer, a SIM-card and Gyroscope to record your driving: where and when you drive, how smoothly you accelerate or brake, your speed, journey lengths, time of day, and more.
- All data is securely transmitted to AIG, the underwriter of this policy, and analysed. As you drive safely over time, your driving “score” reflects it - and that score influences your future premium and may earn you discounts.
- You can log into the ‘ratemydriving’ portal (via your MyAIG account) to view a summary of your journeys, driving scores and see how you’re improving.

Black Box Installation
When you purchase the policy, you can start cover while you wait for your black box to be installed. AIG will arrange for an approved installer to call out within 14 days to fit the black box in your car at no extra cost.
Safe Driving Data
Use your MyAIG ‘ratemydriving’ portal to track driving data and monitor how you’re doing. Over time, as you accumulate safe driving data, your renewal premium could reflect your driving behaviour rather than just your profile.

It works in 3 simple steps:
- Get a quote for An Post Insurance BoxClever Car Insurance by calling 090 64 87255 and take out a policy (we may need you to send in some documents).
- Within 14 days of cover start date AIG (the Insurer) will arrange for the black box device to be fitted in your car.
- Drive and track your driving through the MyAIG ‘ratemydriving’ portal.
