Small & Medium Business | Business Insurance | An Post Insurance

Professional Insurance

It pays to be prepared: this option offers cover for professionals such as IT consultants and quantity surveyors, as well as small businesses with up to eight employees and a turnover of €750,000 or less. Key benefits include public liability (3) and personal accident (4) cover.

Tradesman Insurance| Business Insurance | An Post Insurance

Tradesmen Insurance

Ideal for any trades with an annual turnover under €1.25M and a workforce of ten people or fewer, this covers you, your employees and your customers, as well as the public. Key benefits include cover for construction plant & equipment up to €25,000 and hired-in plant & equipment up to €50,000.

Shop Insurance

This cover helps to protect the assets, earnings and legal liabilities of a variety of retailers, including hairdressers, butchers and food and clothing stores. Benefits include up to €3 million (with option to increase to €6.5 million) for public liability claims and up to €13 million for employer liability claims.

Office and Surgery Insurance

This cover is well-suited to any surgery or office-based business, including solicitors, accountants, estate or travel agents, as well as doctors, dentists and veterinary clinics. It covers the assets and earnings you work hard for, as well as help with legal liabilities(1) and personal accident or assault staff costs(2).

1) Legal liability cover Up to €3 million for public liability claims, excluding professional negligence, with an option to increase. Up to €13 million for employer liability claims.
2) Personal accident assault cover for staff covers up to €10,000 for death, total or permanent loss of one or more limbs total or irrecoverable loss of sight in one or both eyes. Applies to Employers liability cover only.
3) Public Liability cover - Standard indemnity limit of up to €1.3M, with an option to increase to €2.6M & €6.5M. Cover for Temporary Staff up to 50 working days.
4) Personal Accident cover - Death and capital benefits cover up to €2,000. Applies to principals/partners/directors under 75 years.

Cover for Employer's Liability

It makes sense to ensure you're covered for legal liability to employees. Employer's Liability cover is available as standard on our Shop, Office, Surgery and Tradesmen policies^ up to a limit of €13M, and is available as a cover upgrade option on our Professional Insurance Policies^.

Help protect your hard-earned income with insurance cover for gross profit and cash-in-transit up to €10,000 or on your premises.*

Cover for Plants, Tools and Equipment

Tradespeople rely on their equipment every day, so this benefit offers cover for contract works up to €500,000 and construction plant and equipment up to €25,000**.

Are fire brigade charges covered for my shop/office/surgery on my policy?

Yes, the cost of fire brigade attendance fees charged by any local authority attending to a fire that results in a claim under your policy are covered up to a maximum of €25,000.

How much is stock such as wines, spirits and tobacco cigarettes covered for in my Shop Insurance cover?

Unless otherwise specified in the schedules, wines, spirits and tobacco cigarettes are covered up to €1,000.

Am I covered if my shop/office/surgery keys are stolen?

Yes – you will be covered up to €2,500 in any one period of insurance for the replacement of equivalent locks at your Shop/Office/Surgery. It is important to note that unless you or an Employee lives on the premises, keys to any safe or strong room must not be left at the Shop/ Office/Surgery when closed for business.

Who can get Professional Insurance?

Professional Insurance is suitable for the likes of IT Consultants and Quantity Surveyors as well as small businesses with no more than 8 employees and an annual turnover of €750,000 or less.
